Yes! India’s North East Region covers 65% of India’s total handloom production.

North East India is home to three of the four major types of natural silk: Muga, Eri, and Mulberry.

Muga silk, exclusive to Assam, is renowned for its golden sheen and durability.

Eri Silk, Also known as ‘Errandi’ or ‘Endi’ silk, Eri is a staple of Assam and some parts of the Northeast.

Founded in 2021, Traditional Northeast embarked on a mission to empower artisans and promote their exquisite traditional handloom products from the eight Northeastern states of India.

Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), Govt. of Assam.

It is an independent and autonomous body established by Panchayat & Rural Development Department, Government of Assam.

A partnership with the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) under the NRETP Incubator Program (an initiative of DAY-NRLM, Govt of India).

The MOU was officially signed by Smt. Krishna Baruah, ACS, State Mission Director, ASRLM.

Together, we are:

  • Strengthening networks of rural handloom and handicrafts enterprises

  • Supporting Self-Help Groups (SHGs), artisans, and grassroots entrepreneurs

  • Providing technical support, training, and market access

  • Propelling our initiatives with catalytic grant & soft loan support

This partnership enables us to amplify the voices and creations of rural artisans while staying true to our mission — celebrating tradition, ensuring sustainability, and empowering livelihoods.

Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Society (APFBC)

A Collaborative endeavor of ``Forest Departement, Government of Assam`` and ``Agénce Française de Développement``.

Communicating Conservation through Craft
